Do any of you Guys on here have a BLACKBERRY 8900 or 9000, looking for a bit of info on them to find out if they are any good. have Googled them and done a bit of checking up but don't know anyone who has first hand experience of them.

Reason for asking i just buy my phones sim free so that i can change them every couple of months, have had the I-phone both 2G and 3GS ( 3GS PIECE OF S Censored T ) NOKIA's N86 . N85 , E75 , E71, and N97, LG's GC 900 . GD 900's, SONY's C902 and C905 etc etc.

In all my time never paid much attention to the BB's...... So if any of you Guys out there could give me a bit of info. Bow down Bow down Thumbs Up

I have the 8300V and as far as I know, all BB's are very business focussed, not much in the way of gizmos and gadgets.

If you want to send emails, it's a cool device. Discovery 4 HSE

I have the Blackberry and I mirror Adams view. A great biz tool but not necessarily supercool for gizmos etc

I use a BB Bold as my personal device. It does everything I need it to - email, web, phone, news, crapbook i mean facebook and twitter. RIM provide a decent amount of software free of charge. The Bold is a great device. It's well made, robust (my 2 year tests it out) and reliable.

In the 10 months that I have had it, I have only had to buy one piece of software - Berrybuzz - which I recommend. Berrybuzz allows you to customise the multi-coloured service light to flash different colours based on what action has occurred e.g. email, MSN, facebook.

Differences between the Bold and Curve 8900 are

- Bold has 3G, Curve is an EDGE device (i.e. 2.5G)
- Curve has more application memory (256MB vs 128MB - though I have yet to fill it up)
- Curve has a 3.2MP camera vs 2MP on the Bold (though I have found the BB's cameras to be very sharp; had a Pearl for work)
- Curve has slightly more pixels horizontally
- Bold has a nicer keyboard in my opinion

If you are happy to use Orange, the Curve can be had for £250 on PAYG. Alternatively buy the device outright and go on O2's Simplicity 20 which gives you 600 minutes, 1200 texts, unlimited O2 to O2 calls, and unlimted Blackberry data (including web) for £20 per month on a 1 month rolling contract (though minimum 6 months for the unlimited BB data).

One thing to bear in mind is that RIM are actively releasing new models over the next 12 months including the Bold 9700 (aka Bold 2) and the Storm 9520 (aka the Storm 2, which I am waiting for). The latter is due before the end of the year.

I purchased by Bold SIM free from PC World last December for £350. It was a misprint in their catalogue so they honoured it under their price matching scheme.

For heaps of information on BBs and even a 101 guide to BB, have a look at www.crackberry.com. It's a very active community of BB enthusiasts (me included).

The first 3gs iphone she got kept freezing, not being able to make any calls, not able to receive any, kept switching itself off, so after about a month took it back to 02 and they replaced it with another.

So far fingers crossed no problems as yet Noddy.

I'm taking it to be gremlins on the first batch of the 3gs .......... Thumbs Up
