Lpg converted! Where is your air compressor located now?

Hi guys!

Had mine converted last week and found that i can now hear the compressor working!

Just wondering where your air compressor is now located? also what have you done to reduce the noise down.

I have done searches but couldnt find any that involve the above so apologies if there is.

Also just wondering also if you have found any difference before and after on the performance? Is it as smooth/powerful, and does it hold the gear longer?

Thanks in advance

Trist

On mine the air compressor is located in the right hand storage compartment using a Preston Air Bracket which is not too bad for noise.

I have a BRC lpg kit fitted and there is no difference on power or gearchange.

Trist,

Make sure the compressor has been mounted the correct way up as its life will be seriously reduced if not... Ever seen a workshop compressor led on its side!

No power liss with my LPG...

Craig Thumbs Up

I think a lot of the relocated compressor noise issues come from them not being on propper mounts, ie rubber feet and such like to iscolate vibration from the body.

A mate of mine had a 4.4 LPG conversion, and that's what he took from the compressor noise issue......

By its very nature when you remove the compressor from its factory supplied sound proof shell (they call it a turtle Shocked ) it will always be noisier Confused The art is to mount it on rubber feet and deaden down the sound with as much sound proofing as possible. On my old car I used fire rated wall insulation and then put the sound proof lining from the turtle over the top Wink (Back/Far Right) Worked a treat Thumbs Up

Some relocate the compressor in the rear off side storage compartment but thats not an option if the tow bar holder is installed as on mine Rolling Eyes

My compressor sits in the same place as the one shown above, with no additional soundproofing. The only time I hear it is on start up and that's it.

I have a 95 litre tank (70-75 litres useable depending upon temperature) giving around 250 miles per fill. 45000 fault free miles so far. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster

What Cliffy says. The 95 litre tank in the wheel well is intended to allow the boot to remain standard. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster

I'd say BRC, I've had two done with BRC, just make sure you get the twin Genuis max reducers, and the high capacity injectors.

Mine has the air compressor pump in the spare wheel well with the tank, it didn't quite fit, but after a little modification of the casing around the pump, it was persuaded to fit! No additional noise, no orientation issue with the pump.

Have you considered where to put the gauge? I got mine put under the dsc button. Look at my past posts for pictures! Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!
