Thought the FFRR was bad for Depreciation

Years back when the Mazda RX-8 came out i bought one just for the sake of it , they looked good , anyhow in a years ownership i had only done 2000 miles in it so got shot of it , at the time they were released they cost just over the £23k / £25k mark approx 8 year ago …

Now looking thru Autotrader they are going for about £1500 / £2000 , jeez thats a kick in the nuts with ski boots for folk that still own one ... Rolling Eyes

They are taxed quite highly IIRC and people still worry massively about rotor tip wear due to people forgetting to add a bit of oil to the fuel sometimes IIRC Sad

Not a show stopper but not cheap to repair when they are too worn to allow the Censored to work right Sad FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I have a friend with one.. The fuel consumption is pathetic. Mid teens at best. Previously..

I think they've also dated quite badly, which hasn't helped.

A colleague has just bought a secondhand one-owner 2006 RX8 for £6k, but it's apparently a minter and has wanted for nothing.

The premium sector has image, quality and (mostly) reliability on its side. But I do agree the RX8 often gets unfair reliability press and remains an unusual choice for many who can get an older BMW for similar money and better residuals.

One wouldn't be my choice. Japanese cars don't ring my bell much. I'm not sold on the looks and my experience of Mazda material quality is humdrum at best. Sister-in-law has a Mazda5 and mother-in-law a Mazda3. No ta. Good as they may be to drive, there's satisfaction in other areas to be had with a car and this is where, I think, the RX8 has suffered the most. Si. <This is my name.

I eat rat poison.

A man ain't truly been insulted until he stands buck naked in front of a woman and she didn't even notice. Or care.

TBF i cant knock the MX5 other than its image Very Happy

And some jap cars my wife has had in recent years have really put me off toyota and scared me away from others.

I think Korean would be my only option in that bracket but i'd likely go back to a hydro cit if needs must as they do some pretty racey ones if you look Very Happy FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I think it's sign of the times ? I can't imagine any vehicle holding value nowadays over a period. Even classics are dropping off.

Everyone will one day drive electric, pedal or fart power, so no one want's to keep hold of a real vehicle Laughing

Once upon a time (early 90's) I had a beautiful Merc 300 CE coupe. Cost a fortune, but with a straight 6 engine I reckon one of the best they ever made. You can pick them up from about £500 now Shocked
