thanks for the reply - looks like it will be better off road than my D2 (no CDL) lol

can the optional locker be retro fitted to earlier cars?

All combined its better than a D2. I'd go D3 or D4 if your off roading to the point of pushing the limits - its my understanding its slightly more capable. L322 is very very good off road tho.

BMW engine. It is very good, but its quite fickle at the same time, I'd say let down by what I personally consider overly complicated ancillary design of things bolted to the block ( cooling system etc )

I dont have experience of the Jag engine, but there seems to be consensus that its better and perhaps more reliable. V8 or else ...

what year is your D2? did you know that on alot of D2's the diff lock is still fitted just not connected up!!

if you get under the car and feel for a stubby linkage on top of the casing you could just buy the linkage and have the centre diff lock running in tandem with TC

that makes for a very capable D2

if you are doing serious off roading it makes sense to do a 2" lift. this is easy..fit heavy duty lifted springs and shocks on the front and then get 2" spacers and extension arms for the height sensors to full the system and the back is sorted out then also.

have you had a feel for the linkage, some had and some don't it's pot luck alot of the time.

i have edited my post with a link to ashcroft's web site.

they are the people in the know and will sell you the linkage if required.

a second hand tranfer box and linkage is cheaper than a FFRR.. Laughing Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE
