So I've recently taken delivery of my first TDV8 having had petrol V8s to date .....

Very impressed ... but seem to be getting lots of black smoke when accelerating hard (say 50 - 70 on the motorway) ....

No warning lights / errors or apparent issues but just seems to belt out a great deal of smoke .....

Any ideas? Stephen Gazard

could be injectors....... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Diesel engines do give out a puff of smoke on heavy acceleration, it sshould however clear within a couple of seconds

My TD6 does this although I can only see it at night. Probably not black smoke but smoke none the less. It does seam to last longer than a couple of seconds though.

Should I be worried also.? Ash

Black smoke tends to be unburnt fuel, and if you give it a bit of welly, you tend to overfuel a bit to get max acceleration.

In saying that, if you've been pottering about, carbon stuff and general c p in the exhaust tends to get blown out. Fine afterwards.

That seems to be the case with a fully working RR.

If you have other issues, injectors or such like, you could get smoke all the time etc..... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8
