Some colour coding goodness...

I was thinking about buying a colour coded grille to compliment my door handles / mirrors / side vents and I found one on eBay that was just painted around the outside...I really like it.

Was just about to buy it, when I thought that I could probably get this done at my local paint shop for much less than the £200 the guy wanted for his 'one he prepared earlier'.

Typically, whilst at the paint shop getting a quote, I decided that the bonnet vent (where the windscreen washers are) could also be painted, as could a little chip on the rear 3/4 panel, and a small scratch on the bumper - and the whole car could be machine polished too! Rolling Eyes

Now I've got the agonising wait until the 11th until it goes in.

Is it wrong that I'm really excited about the bonnet vent?!

Good move.

The other thing I'd consider, is getting some of the interior trim sprayed to match the piano black, ideally get all the bits which are currently in that horrible 'foundry' finish, stripped and sprayed piano black! You can get the bits pre-sprayed from powerfuluk, but probably cheaper and better to get them done yourself!

No it's not sad, we all love these little improvements we make! Thumbs Up Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

Talking of interior trim, have you bought a 2010 spec steering wheel yet?

You know you want to. Mr. Green

Sad? I think it's perfectly normal. Thumbs Up Si. <This is my name.

@bozmandb9....I sort of don't want to ask this, as once I know, I know I'll want to change them...but what's the 'foundry' finish you're talking about.

@Andy - I keep flirting with the idea of 22" wheels - either Stormers or Overfinch Supersports, but then I keep coming back to how much I like the standard S/C 20" alloys anyway and it just doesn't seem worth it. There's something about the factory look I really rate.

@Si - you're a bad man! But actually, I'm just waiting on a deal to close this afternoon, and if it does then I'll be treating myself to a few new goodies. I'll get the LR ipod kit, one of these -

And one of these...

Sorry but although that steering wheel is nice it just does not fit in with the luxury feel of a FFRR....Sports Audis and such yes but not the Full Fat IMO. Thumbs Up If you have nothing nice to say,say nothing at all.

I think it'll go really well in my cabin with all of the other piano black etc.

It is, after all, a genuine FFRR steering wheel just made a little chunkier and with perforated leather (like on my seats).

The only thing I don't like is that union jack Supercharged badge, but as you recycle your own buttons and airbag anyway, I'll have my genuine black LR badge there.

Who was it that posted a pic of their interior with one...I thought it looked ace. I'll see if I can dig it out... Past (too many to list, but a few favs)...

Here it is...Steven Gazard has a similar steering wheel in his car. I think it looks right personally, but each to his own.

Sorry but now you're for it!

Foundry finish is the textured grey finish around the aircon controls, and window switches etc. Because of the texturing it needs to be properly stripped back, then painted piano black.

Next, you do realise that you can get get a 2010 + steering wheel with paddle shift, and get it working on the paddle shift!?

Then, how about replacing the tacky plastic upper door cards with bespoke leather ones?

Wheels, keep original but get the 2012 inserts, probably the cheapest and most effective mod you'll ever make to your S/C!

That should keep you busy till your next deal comes in! Very Happy

For pictures, ask Cam Tech Craig nicely, or he may have some in his gallery, he's done all of the above on my old S/C, and it does look great. The facelift you'll love or hate, personally I think the S/C looks great anyway, especially with a little colour coding, but the interior tweaks to me are just great, it's picking up on weak areas, and applying the top solutions you could get from the factory as autobiography options! Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

B*stard! That sounds expensive! Wink

I think I'll pass on the 2010 steering wheel (which I assume is the one with the newer style buttons?) - I've had paddle shifts before in cars...used them on the first day I picked it up and never again! Also, whilst I'm not anti facelifts or newer style parts, I do like things to be 'correct for the period' shall we say?

Hence why I'd never spend £3-5k on a facelift, I'd prefer to put that money towards buying a facelifted car. Also, personally, and at the risk of getting slaughtered, I'm not fan of the facelift (*runs for cover*)!

I think it all went a bit too blingy with the LED halos etc. That said I do really like the 3 fin side vents and new rear lights, but I wouldn't add them to my 2007 car as, again, they wouldn't be correct. However, I'm normally one model behind in what I like (I tend to be the same with the VW Golf?!) so when the new FFRR comes out, I'll probably love the facelift L322!

Interior mods are great as you can do them piece by piece....gives me something to keep me interested!

And when you say 2012 inserts, do you mean these? -

If so, I bought those before I'd even collected the car!

I'm lots of thing Stuboy, but 'handy' when it comes to painting cars aint one of them!

I've had too many bad experiences in the past to know that (for me) it's best left to the pros!

Painting cars and plastering walls = get a man in. Wink Past (too many to list, but a few favs)...

JFB when you buy a new steering wheel 2010 of other you dont get the buttons or air bag just the steering wheel and you use your existing air bag and buttons as they come off as one unit. Therefore you would keep your existing badge anyways.

This is from the powerful website

"The airbag on your vehicle is not changed just the steering wheel "core".

The new soft touch wheel is imho just feels so much better Current 2010 Vogue SE, Stornoway Grey with Storm Leather,Deployable steps, Vision Pack
