Driver's door aperture seal replacement - any tips?

I have recently bought the big rubbery strip that runs around the driver's door aperture - the piece that fits to the body, not the door.

i will shortly be having a go at pulling the old (and holed!) one off and popping this new one on. I wondered if anyone has done this before and might share a tip or two?

In the same package from Duckworths was a petrol cap (my dangly strap was broken) but, untechnical as I am, I think I can sort that one out without pestering the forum! 2003 4.4 HSE Epsom Green / Sand. Lovely!

Easy job but you need to remove the metal foot plate at the bottom. Don't stretch the seal when fitting and also you need the rubber plug from the old seal to joint at the bottom

Immensely appreciated - thankyou!

I did search the L322 Workshop book - it seems to mention absolutely everything apart from the door seals. 2003 4.4 HSE Epsom Green / Sand. Lovely!

Picking up on an old thread here.

Has anyone looked into sourcing lengths of rubber sealing strips with an appropriate cross-sectional profile?

I happened upon this supplier today and have pinged them this very question, as I'm sure whatever they charge per metre/foot would be less than OEM or Genuine seals.

I would be very interested in this as my 2013 L405 ideally needs all 4 done due to shrinkage. They are pulling away from the corners.
