20 years or so ago I remember getting a test drive of one of the vey first LS400's unfortunately back then they cost £47,000 which might as well have been £47m as I didn't have 2 pennies to rub together ...Anyway I made a promise to myself that one day I would buy one as it made me feel a million dollars just driving it, spin the clock forward and now I have one and it only cost me £1500 on flea bay!!!!
It's a one owner 1998 Mk4 model with 123k on the clock and a FMDSH.. and every thing works, ok the colour is a bit naff but jeeeesus what a car, it drives like it came out of the showroom just yesterday. The old boy that had the car obviously didn't smoke as the car lighter has never been used and the ticket for the leather care is still hanging on the drivers seat!!! I was told that if anything ever needed done to the car it was done regardless of cost which I absolutely believe.
I picked it up in Cheltenham Spa and drove it the 400 miles back to Dundee at a steady 80mph and averaged 27.4mpg which is I think is pretty amazing for a big lazy V8...I know a old Lexus is not everyones idea of a car but I'm happy that I have at long last fufilled my promise to myself!!

No your right John definitely not a looker but Lexus were given a remit from Toyota to produce and engineer a car to the levels of a Roller or a Bentley and you can definitely feel that when driving it...If only Lexus made a Range Rover!!! I probably won't keep it for long, maybe until the tax runs out at the end of the year then sell it...whatever happens can't see me losing too much money. Next car might be a Skoda Estelle

Your right Mick I have ridden some ugly F s over the years mostly in old rust buckets parked up in a dark corner of Willie Lows car park...at least the Lexus has comfy seats

He Jim, you are right, it is not the prettiest car but glad to hear they live up to their name. I almost bought one a few years ago but the wieight is soo high that the roadtax in Holland just killed that idea. But I also plan to drive a Lexus one day, even if it is for just a year or so. Good to know an older LS400 is still a good buy  MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Cheers ebajema you can buy a good one that's got full service history for peanuts and drive it for a year and still get what you paid for it when you sell it....heck of a lot of car for virtually nothing, very cheap luxury motoring!!
