Bike Rack Extension Lead For Break Lights etc

Since I bought the RR I had not used the bike rack, I needed to today and when I went to plug the electrics in the cable is to short Big Cry I suspect that to keep the rear end tidy the plugs are tucked right under the bumper this is a OEM LR tow bar with adjustable heights.

So can I get an extension lead, I have seen this will it fit & are they all 12v, sorry to ask but I just need to make sure I get the right one & I know some of you are techie Thumbs Up

Thanks for any help

Hi Mutley
I take it you are plugging in a bike rack with integral lights or a trailer board.
Has the FF got one or two plugs on the tow bar?
if two one with a black cap one with a grey you have two options.
1 a N type ( 7 pin) extension lead as you have posted the link to
2 Get some trailer cable and change the existing like for like but longer

If you have only one socket on the tow bar it may be an N type ( 7 pin) or a more modern 13 pin type you will need to have a look. If its the 13 pin type you will need a 13 to 7 pin adaptor these can be a small plug in type device or you can get them with a short lead that will act as an extension.

Or again get a plug and some cable and rewire rack.
These are available on a well known auction site

Hope that helps Mine was a blue one! Smile

You can indeed buy extension leads.

Hi Andy,

Yes I have the 2 plug in's one is Black the other white/grey, I thought about getting the wiring redone but it will take time so I thought if I can buy that extension lead that is a cheap option & quick, as its on a curly lead I thought that would be best rather than trying to wrap it round the bike rack.

Yes it is a 3 bike rack with lights that fits to the tow bar.

Thanks for the help I have just checked & my rack has both the 7 & 13 pin plugs, it is a German Made altera strada really nice solid rack.

I will get the extension, cheap at half the price Whistle

Thanks guys of the help much appreciated Bow down Thumbs Up Mutt
