Battery drain after fitting LED's

Following the good advice given by this forum, I fitted LED’s to all the “normal” places (front sidelights, interior roof lights, door puddle lights, dashboard end, footwell etc.), only to find the next morning my battery was flat.

I thought this was a one off, and put it down to having the doors open and the radio on whilst completing the task, I even considered that I may have left the interior lights on. But it happened again a week later, this time the battery was so flat that it had triggered the alarm and I had to use the key itself to gain entry as the remote didn’t work.

I’ve had the charging system checked and it’s all fine, all the LED’s have been removed and the filament lamps restored, so far one week later, no problems.

Any thoughts?

Very odd - I have all mine switched and not had any battery woes. Once the car is off there's no reason it should be providing power to any lighting system, unless the light is actually switched on, and even then the interior light system shuts down after a certain time even if left on..... Land Rover Addict

yeah the LEDs were draining your battery Rolling Eyes

on a serious note i had the AA (friend) do a 24 hour monitered test on my RR. as every so often i would have a dead battery for no obvious reason

It turns out there is a drain on the battery if goto into the boot when the car has been turned off for a while from the cabin (normal after driving). if you then close the boot and lock car and not going into the cabin the tv/satnav screen does not shutdown (as supposed to after 18mins). this was still on hours after supposed shutdown causing a ampage drain.

we tried various combinations and the one above seems the only drain issue.

just thought i would put this out there.

Many thanks Polux - I think you may be onto something. Thinking about the day(s) that it happened there was a lot of "tailgate" activity, with only the odd occasion to enter the cabin.

Perhaps it's best to enter the cabin after every visit to the tailgate to ensure that the SatNav shuts down.

Many Thanks

Strange if they are off they are off. If they are Led or filament lamps it makes no difference
but the FF is a fickle beast where batterys are concerned Whistle Mine was a blue one! Smile
