Does a MY2006 TDV8 exist?

Someone feel free to correct me here but I was under the impression that MY2007 had a side vent with inlets as opposed to 2 on the MY2006 and before?

If that's the case, would this car ...

... be a MY2006 with a TDV8?

You can't go by the side vents as anyone can change them. You can put 2010 Supercharged side vents on a 2002 car if you wanted to.

The interior update on this car denotes it is a TDV8 model. Discovery 4 HSE

Yes, exactly, the interior update came at the same time as the introduction of Terrain Response on the FFRR.

You won't find a TDV8 without TR or the newer interior. Discovery 4 HSE

I wouldn't take any notice of model years, having owned LR products new from the early 1970's as far as MY's go LR have manufactured and released for sale vehicles with features that do not conform to the MY rule book. Many features have been brought in before specific dates and or other features became available.

i.e. it has been possible to purchase vehciles with later features than they should strictly have, this includes engines transmissions, trim etc.

Many vehicles have previously been ex LR vehciles released for sale and have late model engines in etc etc

so in theory it is possible it could be an 06 MY TDV8 - believe nothing until you actually see it.

That is certainly not the only one in Switzerland like that. For instance:

http://www.autoscout24.ch/AS24Web/Detail.a...&row=6

They seem to have done the MY2007 from around October 2007.

What else would denote a MY2007 vs MY2006?

nopes.

The TDV8 only came out on the 2007 MY, But the 2007 MY's were launched in the end of 2006. Meaning you can find TDV8's as early as 10-11/2006.

The presentation was in september with the first cars shiped October????

As it's been said, the easyest clue to find a TDV8 is the dashboard. 2007MY's got a new dash design with the top of the dash much lower and also vents on top of the dash, and also with Terrain Response.

My old TD6 was on a 2OO7MY chassis, with upgraded dash, but no TR / 6 speed box / Cooled seats.

Just the throw a spanner in, so to speak.

NBunney, yes exactly - this is what I was trying to say - Model Years should be taken as a general guide - there is usually bleed over of features from 1 year to the next whilst new features come on stream and also while manufacturers use up the majority of parts and stock piles etc. I have also seen a TDV8 with the original BM dash and comfort seats - throw another spanner in the works! Embarassed

perhaps a test mule?

Touch screens are not the definition of the new dash. They became available when ford bought LR

It's the design of it. You can easily tell them apart by the top of the dash. The BMW, 2003 till 2006 had almost a straight top across the car. The hazzard light switch and also the center vents was also bigger.

The TDV8 dash has a more pronounced curve round the instrument binnacle, smaller center vents, the hazzard switch the same size as the unlocking switch and top vents above the dash, ignition key on the side of the vents, etc...

Also, the 2007MY has got the double glovebox where the BMW has only one.

If you have seen this spec, which I doubt, then for sure it must be a test mule.

You did not have a 2007MY, but a 2006MY. You just had the upgraded satnav with touch screen.

My car was one of the first 5 TDV8's (I think it was the 2nd) to be registered in Portugal, and it has all the correct specs. No previous parts, nada.....Full TDV8-Full Vogue Spec
