United Kingdom 2015 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Indus Silver

The marks on my screen have now annoyed me for too long so today saw decisive action Shocked
A baby wipe was the "tool of choice" and a few minutes later with only a small amount of pressure I am pleased to report a perfectly clean screen with no marks Very Happy Thumbs Up

The new dual view touchscreen clearly does have some kind of coating on it but the constant use of fingers on the most popular places on the screen over time causes it to wear away leaving these permenant finger print marks many owners are now reporting Confused

So the decision is to either leave well alone and accept the deterioration of the screen over time or accelerate the process with a baby wipe or similar and remove the lot leaving a perfectly clear mark free screen. I am convinced this is what the dealer did for Ukdave104 as there is no way you can "restore" the worn coating.

I'm very happy with my choice as the screen looks brand new again Cool

Ajay, did you use a standard baby wipe and how long did you wipe the screen for, and in what motion, circular or side to side?

When removed is there evidence of left over film or does it come off easily?

Guys, as far as I can rememeber I used just a standard Johnson's Baby Wipe in the pink packet. Rolling Eyes

I cleaned the screen in a straight motion, side to side or top to bottom applying a bit of pressure and making sure I got right into the corners but I don't really think there is a specific technique Surprised

Over a year on and the screen still looks just as good, I have never had to repeat the process I just used the supplied cloth to clean it from time to time, so if you have these marks in the coating on your 2010MY+ sat nav screen I would say go for it Cool

now that the coating has been removed - does it make any difference to the dual view? MY11 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - "African Queen"

None what so ever - The dual view screen is based on the pixels in the screen and has nothing to do with the coating Thumbs Up

If anything it is a little clearer Whistle

that's good news. I was worried the fingerprints that weren't clearing were more due to small scratches that won't come out so hopefully this isn't the case.

wonder why they put the coating on and if it was particular to dual view or just to all MY10+ cars... MY11 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - "African Queen"

BMW do the same on their screens, my X6 of a few years back has the same problem only far worse, the screen was a mess because the coating was marked.

I will give the wipes a try although the finger marks on my screen arent terrible just yet hence the nervousness

I can see when the screen is turned off slight abrasion marks in areas of higher use. I think my wife's finger nails are causing the scratches. I have fitted a cut down iPad screen protector, not got the right measurements and it was hard to get it neat. I need to get the dimensions and do it on a guillotine at work. From what I can tell today, the protector disguises the existing scratches, works ok too, offers longer term protection from further damage too. Surprised no one is selling them on eBay as would fit other LR models too. 2012 4.4TDV8 VSE

Get some "muc off" screen cleaner, brilliant stuff. Squirt it on a microfibre cloth then wipe away. All marks disappear and looks like new Cool 2005 L322 Vogue Gold gone

I used HQ screen cleaner and a microfibre cloth. That removed the oily marks, but there were still small scratches from my fingers on the screen. I followed Cam-Tech Craig's advice and cut an iPad cover to size and put that on top of the screen. Looks better, scratching issue solved. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Cleaning the SatNav Screen

Brilliant. Cleaned with baby wipes, applying sufficient pressure and perfect result. Completely clear. Used a bic biro top to apply pressure under the wipe as your finger gets sore after a while! And you can get into the edges and corners with it too. Very pleased with this - thanks guys! TDV8 3.6 2010 Santorini Black / Jet Interior
