Hi

Over the last few days I've noticed a really strange sound when I shut down my MY2008 TDV8 - it sounds like a slowing down "ticking" effect, which suggest to me that it is coming from a rotating fan / pulley of some sort. It lasts for about 10 seconds after switching off, and appears to be coming from the front near side.

Does anybody have any ideas what it might be?

Cyclonic oil feel filter spinning down?

Turbo? Are you doing what they recommend and idling for about 10 seconds before turning off? Land Rover Addict

I think I know this one.............It is probably the EGR valve performing a self clean when you switch off the engine Annoys the f out of me and sounds more like squeek than a tick on mine. I get some strange looks in car parks when people pass by at the exact moment and not what I would expect from an £80k car but "standard" according to the stealer

Thanks Andy - Is the EGR valve situated in the front near side - seems a strange place for something exhaust related?

(Maybe this annoying sound only affects owners called Andy?)
