Why do people do it

Just now i am punting a couple of things that i don't use on the local Gumtree , and you know the usual back and forth emails , but when the buyer decides he or she wants to buy the specific item …

I have went out my way twice to meet up with them and they don't even bother to turn up or let me know that they have changed their minds ….

Some folk are just total R.Soles and Bell Ends ……..

Mick, I know exactly what you mean. Total avatars (well yours anyway Laughing )

My solution is always collection only. If they turn up then they do, and if not, meh, nowt lost. And I never use EBAY any more, haven't done for about 3 or 4 years. Nothing but time wasting to55ers on there nowadays, not to mention the fact that EBAY and Gheypal between them take 15% of the booty, robbing Censored

Hi Mick, sorry to hear that you have to deal with a lot of these tossers as well. I had my fair share and after a few "stood-ups" I decided they'd better come and get it and at the agreed time, I am not even going to stay home if they are (way) too late.

I also prefer pick-up when I buy stuff over the net (not really feasible here).

For example I am planning to get myself the Galaxy s3 when I am in Holland next and then I prefer to go there, see if it matches the promises, pay and go. I don't like surprises after a few small "issues" in the past. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

I sold an item on eBay last month, collection only from the South Coast as it weighed 40kg. A bidder from Leeds won the goods and emailed me to explain that they couldnt collect it as they had run out of funds and the courier costs were too much.

Now I took their money but being a nice chap, offered to deliver the goods to my office in Nottingham as I was there the following week and they could collect from there. Thank you they said. So I did just that and then they collected and the day following I received an email from the bidder which went something like this.

"I collected the goods, it took me over an hour to find your office which was most distressing and cost me twice as much petrol than I had thought to collect it. It was too big to fit in my car but fortunately, a member of your staff helped to dismantle it and carry it into my boot. I had a terrible journey home as the traffic on the motorway was awful. All in all I am disappointed and will be putting a poor review on your selling status."

I only put goods on eBay once in a blue moon which I thought would help others...b Censored ks to that in future, straight down the charity shop! Current MY2020

Sorry to hear that mick. I generally just buy from the bay now but sometimes list stuff just to clear it out. If I can post I put a reasonable mark up on it to cover time packing and arranging it to be picked up or sent.

You still get silly questions no matter how clear the description but I just bin them if I think they are stupid Smile

It's harsh but it's not worth the agro.

Ie one set of wheels I sold I was asked if they were damaged. Clearly marked as used and with light damage which was pretty light for their age an pictures as well... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
