Current Drain / BlackVue install query

Ok im very VERY rusty on my Watts/Amps/Volts calculations so bear with me....

I will soon have something in the car draining at a rate of 4Watts(4Joules Per Second IIRC)
This will be on a 12v supply from a cigg socket(this may be different if the cigg adapter transforms it into a lower voltage as well obviously.

This would then work out at a 0.34amps(rounded up)

The battery in a TD6 L322 is 110ah as std(in brand new condition)

So if I do 110amps/0.34amps will this give me the duration the battery could last before being totally stuffed?? (obviously it would be more like a 1/10th of this as the battery voltage would need to stay above 11.5volts to crank properly...

This would be about 323hrs or more likely 32hrs to be optimistic about it Smile

Failing that i may just have to find a 12v battery i can hook into the circuit for this new drain and a solar chrager Smile

PS this drain ISN'T a fault, its just a safety net Very Happy FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I was in maplin the other day, they were selling pretty large solar panels at silly low prices.. There was one that would lie on the parcel shelf, it was about 2' long, £29, I suppose you could just plug it into the cig. Socket in the boot.. Would that work? Previously..

This one

http://www.maplin.co.uk/solar-powered-12v-...ger-115194

Or This one CB??

http://www.maplin.co.uk/12v-4w-solar-briefcase-348061

Both would just about cover the drain rate during the day but not at night.

Though if they pulled in 4w for 12hrs it may cover the usage over night as its UPTO 4w of Drain... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I saw those in the shop.. They had larger ex-display ones. I'll pop in tomorrow and check. Think I will buy one anyway as it is something I always planned on buying. Previously..

If you are using the car every day a load of 4W won't be a problem, just depends if you are adding this 4W to a pre-existing other current drain.
The battery will be replenished each time you use the car.
If you aren't using the car each day the battery will probably loose about 0.1V per day. Not a lot but after about 7 days I doubt the car would start.
Would it not be possible to rig up a second 12V battery to feed the "appliance".
You could arrange to recharge the second battery thro an ignition controlled relay.
Much more reliable than a solar charger.

Cheers gents Smile

I think another battery may be overkill as info use it at least 2-3 times a week if not more Smile

I'll have to see how it goes and if I do suffer a flat battery in going to have to order a new one and just to a Dan special and plumb it in, in the boot onto the fuse panel Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I bought a solar panel in maplins. It is 900x300 in size and gives out up to 17w. £34. It comes with fag lighter, croc clips and a frame if you want to mount it to a roof or whatever. Seems good value as the others around that price were 4 watts. Previously..
