Re-flashing ECUs

All,

Does any of you know or even have experience with reflashing ECUs for software updates outside the car. Due to my "unique" situation living in Nigeria where car dealers have a very bad name and my Faultmate is not "stable" enough to reflash my ECUs, I got wondering if a "normal" dealer can do it outside the car.

I travel a bit and go on leave a few times a year so I could take the ECU(s) out and give it/them to a dealer to do the reflashing.

Cheers,

Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

i would have thought a dealer would use the obd port to do any ecu flashing...tbh , i would'nt trust your average dealer with an ecu , maybe a specialist car electronics shop but not a dealer.. ... - .- -.

I think your ECU would be in save hands with BAS

Thanks Pits, that would be an option to explore Smile

Stan, you are probably right, even most EU dealers probably struggle with this as they normally use the testbook and OBD port Sad MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
