Right front rumble

Driving up a hill at a touch over 100 kmh today in the TD6 and a sound not unlike driving over rumble strip emanates from front right of car, I did think I had a flat tyre. I pull over and open the bonnet nothing amiss there and look under front of car but again nothing amiss. Hop back in and reverse with no noise but forward has noise. I decide to press on as a no where near assistance and the noise disappears for a while but came back briefly then went for good. That was good as we then headed onto 110km of gravel road with no phone access into Te Urewera Rainforest.
So what was it? It didn't sound like a stone behind the disc but that is all I can think it could be.

Hope you are enjoying / enjoyed Te Urewera Smile. Been to that area as well in 2004 during my around NZ trip (both Islands in 6 weeks).

No idea what the noise was, I can think of the following things,
- branch, leaf, plastic, paper got caught underneath the car and made the rumbling noise (wind or rubbing) and you didn't see it when you inspected the car
- some bit of plastic underneath the car came loose (and may have come of)
- some bit of plastic (A-pillar etc.) came loose or came of ?? MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Possible wind noise from somewhere around the screen scuttle? Not experienced this with the FFRR but did used to get it on my P38A in specific wind conditions / vehicle angles (e.g. uphill) at that kind of speed. .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

Had a chat with a local and apparently it is the road.
A combination of fast moving heavy trucks, steep hills and tar melting summers causes the road to ripple, also the outside of corners banks up. As well as general deterioration and slumping. And to cap it all the government will not rebuild the washed out rail bridges so have closed the line which means more trucks on the road.
