Looks like I've sorted the Battery light issue. Just had a battery test undertaken at a local parts shop and although the volts were okay the amps were pretty low, only just enough to crank the engine. The battery is the original and has done well to last 6 years.

Ordered a brand new Bosch 110 amp battery from the same shop for £114 which I thought was a fair price.

Oh !
Just swapped in the new battery and my battery light is still on, in fact it appears to be on permanently now. Went for spin up the motorway for 20 mins and the light never went out.
