Manchester/Northwest tyre repair

Ok after the last offroading i did in the FF i got a small nick in the sidewall of one of my MTR's.

I know this is classed as a major tyre repair but still would rather repair it then junk it as i'll be getting another one soon anyway i want something as a spare and this would suit perfectly.

Does anyone know any decent tyre place that under takes these repairs to the BS AU 159 standard and doesnt just give you the bu11sh1t that anything not on the tread cant be repaird. I reckon on about £30 for the repair maybe a smidge more but finding somewhere is a nightmare as they all seem just too lazy to do sidewalls or don't know how i suspect mostly Sad

Any advice or reccomendations would be great thanks Ladies and Gents Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

any reputable tyre place will take your tyre in and get Meriden to collect and deliver back ..you just pay for the major repair..
we used to do that alot and we had several companys popping in to see if we had any business.. ... - .- -.

Couldn't you just put an inner tube in rather than waste time speaking to bellends who don't know what they are talking about? [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

a tube wont help Rob, it'll only cause friction and then a blow out ..side walls can be repaired as long as the cords arnt broken to much, the 'major repair' companys use hot vulcanisation which works very well.... ... - .- -.

Only tubes i'll use are on my bike but an idea for less stressed tyres or ones with lower heat loading Smile

Gave them a ring and i'll get a callback from the boss when he gets in to see if they can recommend someone.

To give you an idea of heat in the tyres, if its raining on the road and i've been on the motorway for about 20+mins, when i park up the tyres can steam a little with the heat that comes off them.

bear in mind i run at towing pressures a lot for my road tyres, but the MTR's haven't ever been over 65, mostly due to the noise factor alone Smile The MTR's also flex a lot when im offroad as I can drop the pressures a fair amount for grip when needed but this has the affect of making the sidewalls super flex so a tube would just allow the split to get worse and worse and it would throw the balance of the wheel out as it got worse Sad

A proper fix where its all cleaned up, scrubbed off, filled and heated back together as per the youtube videos of the approved repairs and patched is what im after Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I've sent emails off to a few more local places to see what they can do but I'm not holding my breath. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Well their number is 0161 226 2342 incase anyone else needs it.

They have said as long as not too many cords have been cut it should be fine, though if its for offroad use and too many cords are cut it could still repair but may bulge so wouldn't balance properly and such like.

Will drop it off when i can though likely next week now and will see what they say Smile so kinda good news so far Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
