Night Drives with LRE @ Eastnor

I was wondering if any of you guys would be interested in doing one of the night drives that LRE are running at Eastnor.

One is planned for Jan 23 and another on Feb 20.

In D4's though, not Rangies (well, you can't have everything...)

Pretty much, I have a four page word document.....

Event details: Night Drive
You’re handed the keys to the latest high-spec Discovery 4. It’s your turn to take the wheel. Now, usually you wouldn’t mind, but there’s one slight problem. It’s pitch black. Ahead of you is 5,000 acres of undulating countryside with 25 miles of track designed to challenge even the most competitive of drivers. The world is silent except for the drumming of your heartbeat. You’re nervous. Until you switch on the high-powered Hella roof lights. Suddenly, nature’s under a spotlight as you wade through water. Crawl through mud. And clamber up hills. Cutting through the night with ease.

Then it’s back to base to warm the cockles with some tasty expedition food and a steaming brew.

PROGRAMME

15.30 Arrival at The Bothy for refreshments and registration
15.45 Guests will receive a short safety briefing and will be asked to complete a liability form.
16.00 Guests are shown to vehicles and commence off road drive. A coffee hamper will be taken out with the convoy to have en route
18.30 A hearty dinner is served at the Bothy
19.00 Head back out on the tracks
21.30 We aim to bring the convoy back to the Bothy for guest to have a cup of something hot before departure

General information:

• Hot dinner and beverages available when at the centre
• Vehicles: Discovery 4, subject to availability.
• Convoy Style drive event, driver changes every 20-30 minutes
OFF-ROAD EXPERIENCE DAY FAQ
Conditions
• You are 19 years & over
• You have held a full driving license for a minimum of 2 years
• You have not been convicted of any offence involving dangerous driving
• You do not know of any circumstances which would disqualify you from driving
• You are not currently suffering from any physical and, or, mental condition which would restrict or impair your alertness or driving ability.

What time should I arrive?
Please arrive at the centre at 15.30 for refreshments and an introductory briefing.

What time will I leave?
We will get back to the Land Rover Experience building at approximately 21.30 No-one will encourage you to leave; you may depart at your leisure.

How much driving time do I get?
The driving elements of the evening are run in convoy style with three drivers in each vehicle. Every 20/25 minutes the drivers will be rotated from driver to passenger. Total time on the track will be approximately 5 hours and hands-on driving time should be approximately 1hr 30mins per person.

Are novices catered for?
The off-road Experience suits all skill levels. Even the most apprehensive will soon master the techniques but the more experience will still be challenged to show their mastery and to get it right first time. A land Rover Experience Instructor is in the vehicle at all times for safety and tuition if required.

What about my medication?
Please bring any medication you require with you and keep it on your person all evening, at any one time you may be as far away as 30/45 minutes from the LRE centre and your personal vehicle. All Instructors are trained to an Appointed Persons First Aid level. You will be asked to sign a disclaimer prior to leaving the centre where you are asked to confirm that you are not currently suffering from any physical and, or, mental condition which would restrict or impair your alertness or driving ability.

What about my personal belongings?
Please take any personal belongings with you, and as you will be changing vehicles through out the evening we request you keep these with you at all times. We do not recommend you leave valuables in your vehicles back to the centre. Reception may hold small items for you left at your own risk.

Is food provided?
Refreshment drinks will be provided at all times when at the Experience building. We will provide tea, coffee on arrival, a hot dinner and tea and coffee refreshments on your return. If you have any dietary requirements please call us prior to the event.

What should I wear?
The off-road tracks can be muddy and slippery so please bring suitable outdoor footwear (comfortable to drive in) and outdoor clothing. You will have to exit the vehicle at certain points during the evening to change drivers, but you will be in the vehicles mostly. Torches will be provided in each vehicle for driver changes and the vehicles are fitted with high powered Hella Lamps for better visibility.

Can I bring spectators and children?
Unfortunately, due to the nature of the tracks, the vast area covered and limited space in the vehicles, spectator facilities are not available. Adult spectators and children aged over 12 and 1.5m tall paying the full participation fee will be welcomed as passengers.

Do you cater for disabled persons?
For a copy of our policy on The Carriage of disabled persons whilst conducting LRE demonstration activities, please contact the centre.
