Battery warning light on

Hi,

last week I had my battery warning light on my dash popping up from time to time (plus HDC Inactiv).

Yesterday I changed my 2 year old Varta 110Ah for a new one, on my TD6. This morning, warning light is still popping on and off, and still getting the HDC Inactiv.
Battery had >12.5V yesterday. Old one > 12.3V

Any Ideas where this can come from? Is the alternator on it’s way out or a gremlin coming in?

In the secret functions, I had a very stable 13.7V when running showing on my dash.

Thanks for your Help

i gather that you also did the steering fully left and then fully right, if so then check the voltage when running with a multimeter, it should be around 14.5 volts... ... - .- -.

Alternator would be my guess if batt light is on. Does the TD6 have a separate belt for it that could be slipping g if its intermittent. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

Hi,

small update, after a 20 minute ride with the new battery, the ligth stopped coming on.

Did some tests this morning, unfortunetly the bonnet cabled snapped.

I measured (before the cable snapped), with my voltmeter at the terminals 12.2V (I guess some ecu's where already taking some power) and a bit more then 14v at iddle.

My guess is that new battery was not completly new, if the aternator was shot after a week of short drives with lights and heater etc on battery would be flat.

Is this correct?

Thanks for your help.
