Unless I knew that road extremely well, I would not be driving through that flood. No-one knows what's underneath. |

Very true noddy. As has been shown on the disco forum where a members daughter and grand kids were in a Zafira and went through a ford and the engine cut out when the water got upto the windscreen and the water level was near the door tops....

One question for you guys, what stops the water coming in the doors in a situation like this? I can see a quick jaunt across a ford not being too much of a problem but that RR is going to be in deep water a fair while. I remeber a few years back in Spain my mate had a brand new Defender, we had already modified it quite a bit with a lift and 'proper'tires, snorkel etc, we stopped somewhere and after a while someone is like 'where's Frank?' we spotted him crossing a river and the water was up to the door tops, he got acrossOK but the interior was soaked, luckily it dried Ok and we had it valeted, but a defender is far more suited to getting wet than a FFRR. much better seals than a defender, but they will leak a bit inevitably. Did some deep wading a couple of weeks ago, didnt let any water in over a 500 yard swim. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Its just that they seem to have so many electrical problems that introducing a good dunking terrifies me, I dont mind going out in snow etc, in fact we actually use the country roads to find more snow but wading oh no !!!!!! |

The problem with dunking an l322 would be the air intake at the rear of the bonnet. There isn't anyway to close it off so the water would run down it and into the interior.

I have a nick in my drivers side one that's about an inch long if that but i think its more important that it makes a seal. I tend to clean mine every wash and gently wipe them to ensure no dirt gets in as that's the killer really as it acts as sandpaper over time and makes them brittle. I also bought some of that rubber car blobby stuff that others on here have recommended and being a short a53 isn't easy to apply to the top of the rubbers on the door frames but have now done the whole car and will do it again after it gets a proper clean in the next few days, probably tonight so its done for the xmas runs |

Having had many jap cars with targa tops a quick fix for a slight leak is to coat the seals with a silicone type product similar to vaseline, just seems to add that extra seal to it. One of the issues with using a grease is that dirt and grit stick to it making a grinding paste.

Yeah on a door seal you would need to clean it quite regularly i would think, on the roof it was shut and forget till spring. One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

The issue with the bonnet vent is possibly the reason there is no snorkel available. |
