Battery Drain & Other Funny Goings On 2002 4.4

A friend of mine has a 2002 4.4 V8 Vogue and asked me to have a look at the blower resister as he suspected that was causing the problem.

The battery drain started last week, at the same time he got the air suspension inactive message appear on the dashboard.

I put TestBook on it and tried to read the faults from it but it couldn't communicate with the car. TestBook was giving an error message saying "Communications have failed" and it proceeds to advise of an issue with the instrument pack ECU and a bus error on the Keyword 2000 or DS2 bus.

Would this resister going faulty cause any other problems? These issues only seem to have occurred after a flat battery.

The other thing I found hanging loose is this plug pictured below:

it was sitting on top of the panel that you remove to get to the resister above the drivers feet. Have had a look under there as best I can but can't find anything that it should be connected to. Don't think it's the OBD2 port as I can see a plug on the back of that.

Would appreciate any advice that you guys can offer Smile

Thanks

David.

Have you checked the alternator output?

Right, new resistor pack fitted and the HEVAC has returned to normal service.

The Air Suspension fault only occurred after the battery had been drained. The battery was removed from the car and charged for 24 hours before being put back in the car.

After it was put back in the car everything appears fine apart from the air suspension. However, the RSW All Coms can't communicate with the car, nor can a genuine LR TestBook that I've got.

Alternator output is a healthy 14.1v at 2000rpm.

Have had an endoscope up under the dashboard and had a proper look around under there and I can't find anywhere that the plug hanging loose could have come from. There's definitely a multi plug connected to the back of the OBD port though. Does anyone have a 2002 V8 that they've been under there on recently? Was there a random plug hanging loose?

Thanks guys.

That's similar to one of the plugs used in the LCM unit, located behind the drivers R/H side footwell panel.

But i'm sure if that had become detached you'd be have problems with the lights/indicators/stereo etc.

Lights and everything seem to work fine apart from no comms on diagnostics and air suspension inactive.

Had a trawl through my '02 rave electrical Connector section. The only two connectors that look like the one in your picture are:
