Wireless Camera for home

Now Chester the 6 month old retriever who is bigger than a house is getting older, I want to let him have the run of the ground floor of the house when we are out.
I was thinking of putting a wireless camera in the hallway which I can view on my iPhone, iPad or office PC. I have been looking at the iZON camera.

Has anyone experience of setting up a similar arrangement and can recommend a piece of kit?

I currently use a ycam, works with wired or wireless networks and can be set up for remote viewing, its not brilliant wireless then viewed over a mobile app but I dont think any of them are. Wired with Cat5 works much better.

I've been thinking about getting cameras and are the wireless ones any good ?
Also could I have the wireless ones linked back to a recorder at my Pc and view it on there and my iPhone ?

I was asking about wireless cameras when I was in at the security shop last week, they don't sell them and don't recommend using them if you are after serious security. They say that wireless is fine for dog sitting or watching the kids in the garden and that's about it

Here's my Wi-Fi IP Camera

I haven't got any experience with streaming to phone/tablets via internet however it seems easy to setup.

For security.. well the picture quality is ok but you wouldn't be able to identifying a face or registration plate.
There are now HD wireless IP cameras which are far better in daytime, but I still recommend using dedicated HD CCTV camera with standalone record box.. unless you're a full time nerd Laughing Thumbs Up

After a bit of research, I've ordered a Foscam. Not being an expert when it comes to IP addresses, DCHP, DNS and or that, I'm am expecting a bit of frustration getting it running remotely via my hub so I can view the pictures from my work PC, iPad, iPhone etc....but it should keep me quiet for a few days Smile Current MY2020

I have a couple of IP cameras at home, however we find that the continual streaming slows the home network down. We now only switch them on whilst on holiday.

Anyone else with similar issues or any tips? I reduced the frame rate down which made it better, but still not ideal. The cameras were connected wirelessly to a Netgear router which was the fastest/best range you could get at the time (18 months or so ago).

It is slowing down your internet connection or the Wi-Fi?

If it's the Wi-Fi, you can get a second router and plug it in to your existing router with a cat6 network cable.

Disable the "DHCP Server" mode on the second router and set up the Wi-Fi

This way you have two wireless home networks which are joined together via cable, put all the IP cameras on the second router and everything else on the first Thumbs Up
