Mains to 12v adapter

I'm looking to get an adapter so I can run my 12v air compressor to pump up the tyres on my Rangie, without having to use the cigarette lighter in the car.

Thinking something like this ;

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KAMPA-MAINS-240V...43b698b518

To be fair, I ought to find out what amp is required, so may be shot out with this idea...........

Anyone used one or got any recommendations ?

Cheers

You would need to measure the amps being pulled by a compressor pumping into an inflated tyre before buying anything.
All I know is it's less than 20A. Smile

Just checked my Halfords unit only gives out 5A as well.
You could always use an old type battery charger if you have one lying around.

I do have an older battery charger, not sure of amperage.

Judging by the one in the link, looks like it'd be cheaper to get a 240v air compressor and use that in the workshop.

Taken me off on a different search altogether........ Thumbs Up 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Machine Mart were more expensive and Costco seems to show their cheapest at £200, on the web anyway.

Have managed to find an ex demo one of the Wolf ones I linked to above, at £75, but without any hoses or attachments.

Looks like the 5 piece tool kit tends to be about £20+ for the cheaper one, and as Amazon are doing new compressor including tool kit at £113 it means the ex demo compressor only represents a saving of about £18. May not come with the oil etc etc...........

May end up buying new, but I'm not sure if its a bit of an extravagant way of pumping my tyres up.

I understand there can be issues powering them through a mains extension lead ? so a 10metre hose may be the best choice...... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

i use mine with an extension lead with no problems...you will find loads of uses like blowing pipes out and if like me ,you can get air nail guns which are brilliant when you're building stuff.... ... - .- -.
