Do Cheques have a Cash By Date ….

Reason for asking got a cheque sent out to me a few month back and i keep forgetting to go to the bank to pay it in , so do cheques have a "Use by Date" Whistle Whistle Exclamation ====================================

Technically it is 6 months.

However, depending on the amount (under £1000 usually) most banks won't even check. Shocked

It costs them more to check all cheques as opposed to letting those under £1k go unchecked and having to deal with any issues/complaints from the few that are challenged.

I doubt the banks will ever admit it given the press they have had recently but rest assured that is what happens!
