Got the car on eBay just now. Just had an offer, but they want my email address. The English is really bad so I know it's a scammer. What can scammers do with my email address? Maybe a naive question but I am curious.

HI, PLEASE REPLY ME WITH YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS BECAUSE I WILL BE WORKING, AND I DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO MY EBAY ACCOUNT. PLEASE REPLY ME YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS FOR A FASTEST RESPONSE, AND PLEASE DON'T CLOSE YOUR AUCTION UNTIL WE WILL ARRANGE ALL THE DETAILS!! Previously..

It really gets on my t1ts how hard it is to find decent buyers & sellers on ebay. Combine that with the huge sales fees you can be landed with, it's a wonder why anyone bothers. On the other hand they offer a huge audience.

Sounds to me like the "buyer" wants to take you away from Ebay's own email system. With an email address alone nobody can really do any harm but if they gain your trust could email you malicious emails with a view to fooling you into surrendering sensitive info. There are so many scams its hard to know where to begin. Also watch out for PayPal payments sent via email that can be reversed at a later date.

Best bet is to report the user to eBay, don't reply to them personally and keep your guard up. If in doubt do exactly as you have just done and exercise caution. When I was looking for my RR I could have written a book about my bad experiences... be a good, honest and pleasant seller and you will go far.

I sold my last 2 defenders on eBay with no problems what so ever. I have 100%+ve feedback of over 230 and have never had a suspect message yet!! So I was a bit surprised to get this message. I got a text yesterday as well asking for my email also.

I'm pretty similar but have had a few issues. Range Rovers attract a lot of chances it would seem. Personally is just delete and ignore, they will soon go away.
