Check engine amber light

Started the car this morning and after about 20 minutes the amber engine warning light came up.

Have put the car away and will check again later but I wanted to know if this is a common fault like an intermittent problem or should I be alarmed if it stays on and go and see the garage for diagnosis?

I had this happen on mine a month or so ago. Research online resulted in a few possibilities. The error reader told me the electric thermostat had failed, apparently not an urgent problem cos it is mainly used when the car is under heavy load or towing.

I did also pop the top engine cover off and check the crankcase breather pipes hadn't broken down, also a common reason for check light, the previous owner must have changed them , they looked like new.

As it turned out the light went off and never came back, fingers crossed yours will just be a simple resolution. 03 4.4 V8 petrol / lpg. 1st of many hopefully. I love my Rangie

I had one a while back.
Solid amber = a problem was detected, flashing amber = pull over NOW and switch off. Mine turned out to be a misfire.
It disappeared after a certain number of miles and restarts without the problem reoccurring.

If you can clear it and it doesn't return, great. If you clear it and it does return, you need it checked. My mechanic say, if I disappears, don't worry about it.

Even if the light disappears, the fault will be logged and can be read later.
