Rear Quarter Window for 2007 FF

Some Censored smashed the rear left window on our Rangie last Thursday evening but did not get through the window or take anything inside as I had tinted film on the inside.

Autoglass were only able to schedule a visit this morning as they needed to get stock in. Unfortunately the glass they came with appeared to be incorrect. There was a fitting over the front portion of the glass (indicated in the image below) that is not present on my vehicle. The fitter felt that it was not the right glass and he could not fit it. His office said that this was the only glass listed for rear quarter of the Range Rover.

My question is whether there is a different rear quarter glass for 2006+ models or was he just being daft? If there is another piece then can anybody suggest a likely supplier?

TIA

The glass on the facelifts for that panel is different, see the other side of your car.....

Older ffrr have a trim panel in front newer dont, glass al the way to the door.

Would not stand for them fitting it like that....... Not right! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

It appears that Autoglass are the daft ones in that they could only find the older one on their system. Newer one apparently tracked down and now waiting to come into stock.

Autoglass can be useless sometimes! In fact quite a lot of the time Laughing It took them three attempts to replace my rear screen Shocked

I suggest asking "Duckworth Dan" to check your chassis number and give you the correct part number for your specific car and then give that to Autoglass to order from their LR supplier, that sorted it for me in the end Whistle

That may be an idea as their system(?) has my VIN with privacy glass from the factory (it does not). We double-checked the VIN on the phone. If you don't get stuck then you are not trying hard enough.

In all fairness to autoglass they did my screen in their workshop, all competed on time with heated screen, rain and light sensors working ok. Oem pilkington screen fitted and all put back perfectly.

Maybe they were having an off day for you guys.... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

They did manage to get here exactly at the time promised, just with the wrong stock. The fitter was friendly and courteous. If you don't get stuck then you are not trying hard enough.

Craig, if you have all original glass in your FF then it's probably made by Pilkington and i bet Autoglass won't put the same energy efficient Pilkington glass in so, it might be prudent to tell them you will only accept an OE part purchased from Land Rover so all the glass is the same make etc etc... (you may see a different effect at re-sale)

All pre 06 models have the large black aluminium extrusion, all post 06 models don't hence your 07 not having it...

Craig Thumbs Up

Thanks for this info. I'll give them a call tomorrow to check which unit they are attempting to supply. If you don't get stuck then you are not trying hard enough.

I had the issue with Pilkington vs Land Rover glass, yes they are both made by the same company in fact you could even see the original Land Rover Logo that had been etched out and replaced with the Pilkington logo BUT the Pilkington glass fitted to mine didn't have the connection for the TMC amp so no TMC on the sat Nav until they came out again with the correct glass from Land Rover with the correct fittings and the correct logo Shocked

If you don't ask for OEM you won't get and don't be fobbed off with this is all we can get or we need your insurers authority. when I checked with my insurance company they said they insisted on OEM glass!

All sorted in the end but the moral is dont assume they will get it right first or even second time Laughing

Thanks Andy, they have assured me they are putting in OEM glass but we'll see on Friday afternoon. I will not hesitate in sending this one back too if necessary.
