iBus + Resler Interface + Navcoder

For those interested, as you'll know a few months go I bought the Resler Interface. But I was moving house, then xmas happened etc so not had a real chance to have a play with it.

I connected to the CD Changer iBus wire - but an iBus feed is easier to find in the boot. (see info on Resler website) You only need the one iBus wire, and then any ground wire. I used a multimeter to find a handy one.

Hopefully the following should show you exactly what pins to use:

I've just noticed that NavCoder has a feature to input manual iBus codes:

I'm a sucker for things like this, basically you stick in a code and press transmit and it will do whatever function.

Because it's the precursor to programming your own functionality and changing dealer spec options.

I've just used the USB interface lead with Navcoder and sucesfully enabled tv in motion, had a bit of an issue with my laptop saying com3 was in use but managed to get round that. Seems like a good bit of kit. 2006 Mercedes CLS

But really finding it hard to fight the urge for a S/C...

Where did you take your iBus feed from in the end?

Just remember next time you plug it in it should go into the same USB port, if you put it in a different one the system will assign it a new com number. Not a problem as long as you connect it all up and THEN open Navcoder it should auto detect which com port to use.

Ive just recieved the Resler Interface and paid for Navcoder and can I hell get it to work
Feel like chucking it in the bin!!!

What wire are you using to get the iBus? CD Changer or in the boot?

I have fitted an intravee and Alpine ipod controller so its easy enough to get to the ibus lead in the glovebox
Now Im attaching the plug on the end of the loom directly into the Resler USB but Navcoder does not detect the ibus.

Im running Vista and have downloaded the correct drivers

Are you using two wires or three?

In theory one should use iBus, 12v+ and 12v- However that wouldn't work for me, so I just use iBus and 12v-

You checked the photo's above for pin config?

Have you told iBus the correct com port to use? In device manager you should have a com port and a number...

You should aways plug the resler into the laptop before opening up navcoder...

I've got this kit and found it pretty straight forward, did manage to blow a few fuses tho

I connceted it up to one of the wires in the boot, took all of 30 seconds. Uncliped one of the plugs, ramed the navcoder wired into the appropriate holes and reconnected the clip. Had the same issues with COM3 being in use, etc but when I changed the USB port everything was fine.

My car is up for sale, I'll take this out of it and sell it to anybody who is interested, the navcoder program is £20 to download though.
