Brake calipers

I needed some advice....

I am looking to repaint my brake calipers black. They are currently red from the previous owner... How would i strip the red paint off so that it the caliper is back to its original condition???

I am looking to spray the calipers with hammerite gloss black.

Cheers

i would just use sand paper to key and clean off with white spirit to remove grease. I painted mine satin black but now thinking silver looks better. Best finish is achieved by removing and spraying although I did my by hand with hammerite and they look quite pleasing to the eye Thumbs Up Present :2008 TDV8 HSE

Cheers conor

I was reading somewhere that you can sandblast them or use heavy duty paint thinner.. Will this damage the caliper???

I was thinking silver too now that you mentioned it.... Range Rover Autobiography Black Conversion

I wouldnt bother sandblasting. I did mine in situ taking my time with a small paint brush and for awkward areas a small artists paintbrush. Hammerite will be fine I did not need the heat resistant stuff normal hammerite still looks good six months in. Dont forget to do hub as well to complete Thumbs Up Present :2008 TDV8 HSE

Think that silver from gaz's pics looks lovely... Makes the alloy stand out with a nice silver caliper finish Range Rover Autobiography Black Conversion
