Yes, I've tried pressing the ON/OFF buttons simultaneously and get nothing from the remote LED at all. As you say, LR seem to have starved us of that useful feature.

I bought one of these too, I already had a T91 remote that I could not get to work. When I pulled the 59 fuse the new T91 remote linked up and worked perfectly. Maybe a battery issue with the old one. But really chuffed that the new remote works with the older T90 system in my 2004 (54) model.

If you are finding problems linking the remote, try new batteries and see if that does anything. Tom
