Problem with Windows Live Mail and Vista

I use Windows Live mail for email, I have it installed on 3 different machines for the same account. recently, in the past few days the Vista Home Basic laptop it's installed on won't send or receive emails, it keeps timing out.

My work laptop (XP) and my Home PC (Vista) both work fine. Censored

Can anyone think of anything that may need looking at as its clearly specific to this laptop only (typically, the one I use for email the most)

I absolutely HATE using Hotmail on the web, so WLM is a great tool, and I can't use Windows Mail (used to be Outlook Express) as it doesn't support Hotmail account.

Any thoughts guys? Discovery 4 HSE

I recently upgraded to Windows7 (It was my idea) and it has solved nearly all the Vista issues I had with both my Desktop and my Wife's Laptop. £60 for the upgrade product and its money well spent as Vista is a disaster zone.....

TBH, I have not had any issues really with Vista, what are they? I know people bemoan it but I must have missed something somewhere.... Discovery 4 HSE

Stuff like Windows Mail Live not working Rolling with laughter

Also, system hanging, 10 minute start ups and close downs, hibernation/sleep malfunctions, and loads more. You will only realise when you upgrade but check the vista forums if your not sure.

Windows7 Networking is a zillion times better too, Laptop auto-connects to the home network every time and very quickly. On Vista you had to do in manually even though it should have been automatic. Vista was a flawed product and MS almost admit that.

I've never had to manually link it to any network? I have my laptop set up to pick up any one of 3 wireless networks (home, parents, friends house) and it just works.

perhaps I am lucky?

Anyway, back to the thread. Why would one Vista machine work fine, the other not? There has to be something, maybe a registry setting or DLL file that's screwing it up, I just don't know where to look. Discovery 4 HSE

Fixed:

Deleted the account from windows live mail and then reinstated it. Seems to be working fine now.
