Changed my rear brake pads today, having done the front, two weeks ago. Done it loads of times on many different vehicles. Jacked it up, shoved the wheel under the rear axle ( I normally shove it under the sill ). Did all the usual stuff with wheel blocks on the front wheels ( see where this is going) my axle stands don't fit on my rr and my hydraulic jack is only 2 tn so didn't use them it was only going to take me 30 minutes or so anyway. Big gust of wind and the world went into slow motion the friggin thing toppled over onto the wheel. If it had been under the sill, crumpled sill would be on the menu. Well after getting the hydraulic jack out and jacking the rear end up and putting a block under the opposite rear wheel I changed the pads both sides safely this time. I then decided to spray my bonnet grill black, I had the paint so thought much safer than changing brake pads. Got it all done and was looking really good so decided to sit it in the conservatory as the stable was a bit cold and windy ( always windy in Auchnagatt ) so on the way in I bumped one of the dining chairs and imprinted three brilliant finger prints onto the nice new paint. How can you finger prints mark through rubber gloves. I also snapped the nozzle on the driver washer jets ( fixed now with hot glue). Will order replacement tomorrow. The pain is now numbed by red wine I will laugh about it when Alzheimer's kicks in.....  Traded in my Audi TT 225 for my Range Rover TD6 Autobiography in Java Black. Range Rover now sold.

The car was on the driveway and I'd stopped the bike on the upward sloping path next to it. The engine was running and the lights were on as I went to unlock the gate to park the bike by the side of the house. I saw the light moving and looked back just in time to see the bike rolling back and falling on the car - seemingly in slow motion.

That wasn't a good day.

I always turned the engine off and left it in gear after that.

I had my Elan up on axle stands with both front wheels off 2 years ago and the tarmac on my drive collapsed leaving it sat on it's front brake discs and sump. Thankfully I wan not under it at the time 56 TDV8 Vogue SE

Hi Andy, who laid your driveway? I thought my farm track was bad. Hope the motor was ok. Nice cars Lotus put out was it a good car to drive? If you use the trolley jack, buy the square adaptor to go in the cup.
I didn't , used a bit of wood, car slipped off jack and onto running board, mangled it  Alcohol and eBay is never a good mix

Hi Andy, the main reason I got the RR was because of the rotten winters we have had over the last few years. I live down a farm track which has steep hills on both sides and when it stopped my wifes X3 I thought I best get rid of my TT and get an RR. Got through everything this year so earned its keep. Most decent jacks now come with warning not to jack car up on tar.

I must admit that I find my FFRR a pain in the a r s e to jack up.  The reason women's minds are cleaner than a mans mind is that women change their minds more often!
