STEINBAEUR TD6 tuning box value

Hi all I have a STEINBAEUR TD6 tuning box I have just removed from my old TD6. I will be looking to sell this to help fund the ECU remap I want on my replacement TDV8. It has P box written on the actual ECU box but I have checked with STEINBAEUR themselves and they have confirmed it is definitely one of their boxes by the bar code number I gave them from the actual ECU box. My only problem is not knowing what it is worth.

Hoping someone on here can give me a rough valuation as to its 2nd hand value. Looking at the STEINBAEUR website they still do the same unit and it retails at approx £600, which seems very high to me until I looked at the TDV8 version which costs a ridiculous amount (over £1500). So hoping someone can give me a guide price as to what this 2nd hand unit is worth.

You do need to give your own price or guide price to list here, if you don't know a price then you should ask elsewhere first Smile

Thanks Dolphinboy,

I don't suppose you have any links etc to secondhand units selling for £100 to £120? The price seems on the low side for a £600 unit, but you can never tell I guess. I thought Steinbaeur were the best units around, so would have imagined the resale price would reflect that and hold its value as not a lot are sold, most folk go for the cheaper ECU remap option, also as its removable you can move it from one vehicle to another, or if you change to a different vehicle you can also sell it on.

Got to stress this is not a cheapo box, its a full inline ECU kit that plugs straight into the ECU wiring loom socket, all cables and plugs are top quality and installation is just a matter of unplugging ECU cables and inserting the new unit into the ECU loom using the cables supplied.

It adds approx 20% more bhp and torque. I can certainly vouch for the performance difference it made as when I bought the car I drove it for 2 to 3 days before fitting this unit and it made a significant difference to the performance for sure. I can't really comment on the fuel consumption as I did not run the car for long enough without it to compare, but from what I have read its supposed to improve this also so long as your not booting it around I guess. I had this on my car nearly as soon as I got it over 6 years ago. When I put it on the car it had about 50k on it. I just sold the car with a tad under 120k on it and never had any engine or gearbox issues with the car. All in all its a great unit in my opinion, and has the added benefit over ECU map in that you can interchange it between vehicles. You can also add a switch to it to enable or disable the unit, but never found the need for this as I much preferred the engine performance with the box installed.

Here is a link to the unit with more details and there are power graphs available in the pdf data sheet.

So only 1 opinion on value of this type of remap box. Thought I might have had a few more. Must admit I have looked around and can find no info as to second hand value myself.

I guess most folk just do the ECU software remap which has no resale value if you take it off.

Anyone else out there using the Steinbaeur performance upgrade module on a TD6?
