Yes, good news and should help secure Aston's future.

The 5.5-litre twin-turbo AMG engine will suit the lastest Aston GT's, reducing emmissions on its current V12 units.

So, now they will have great engines, good gearboxes, great design, great chasis...just the sat nav to sort out! A bit like the Range Rover really  Current MY2020

Word of warning - do you really want an Aston re-bodied AMG SLS? It's a dreadful car.

AM would commit suicide if they change the design of their cars, I hope they are not that stupid.

AMG engines are incredibly powerful but a V12 is also something special. Still I'm sure it is a good thing for AM.

Is this the end of the V12 for AM?

I doubt AM will allow an engine manufacture to change the styling, maybe the gearbox and leave it there.

Bet they will - eventually.

AM have plenty of V8's in theor history, nowt wrong with that. The V12 is special I agree but a V8 is still very appealing.

But, if they Deutchland-ise the AM it will be a great shame. JLR have a wonderful V8 with plenty of pedigree so there's no need to go German IMHO.

I suppose it had to happen. We've had the Mc-Merc for years now and now we're getting the AM-Merc as well.

Not saying it's wrong (and I'm a huge fan of AMG), but it just doesn't sit right in my mind.

If it was just the engines, with AM badging and maybe a few AM tweaks then that's just fine, but drivetrains and electrics seems a slippery slope to me as well.

Looking at it the other way around, I'd not wish to see an AMG-AM either. Their massive appeal lies in their very separate individual identities and I just don't view the mix as complimentary.
