weird..

i just done a quote for me against a 2008 tdv8 and a s/c [both vogue se spec] on a well known comparison site and the petrol s/c came in cheaper by £30..anyone know why a diesel would cost more to insure. ... - .- -.

Comparison sites have feelings too, you know. It's clearly a fan of petrol power. Thumbs Up

Sorry, no logical explanation springs to mind. Si. <This is my name.

I had the very same problem with Admiral when I moved from the SC to the TDV8. Their answer was that there are many more TDV8s on the road than SC's, therefor in insurance logic that results in more accidents/claims from TDV8s then SC's................go figure!

Mine increased by just under £100!

If there's a logical reason it's either cost of repair is higher for the diesel or statistically they're more likely to be in a crash, which given the sort of people who drive diesels may be true. Laughing

Insurance companies aren't always logical though.

I bet if you go back in a few hours time and re-do the quotes they will be different again - there seems to be no logic or reason, just legalised daylight robbery Censored Discovery 4 HSE

I've no idea why the petrol was cheaper. Perhaps it's less stolen (crims cant afford the gas!)

Worth messing with your occupation title as well. Shocking the difference it can make. My wifes a nurse, but if she puts 'care assistant' it's £100 less! Martins money tips has a comparison thingy that tells you how to name your occupation for maximum effect.

I tried 'international man of mystery', but it wasn't in the validation tables...... My Previous RR's!

It happens at the other end of the scale too; diesel clio more to insure than a petrol one, by +30%. Apparently due to the very high cost of diesel engines. Shocked

Seems odd. Graham
