I need to fit a new rear height sensor to my L322 late 2004 (BMW V8 with touchscreen sat nav) and understand that I will need to recalibrate the EAS.
Which of the electronic tools that are available can do this. Faultmate FCR or do I need the expensive one, IIDTool, Hawkeye, RoverAllComms or any others.

The 7 series has self levelling, not sure on the workings of it though

I have this software for my laptop but my laptop does not have a serial port for my connector that goes with it (my old laptop did).

I have often thought this would work on BMW based Range Rovers so I might have to invest in an older laptop with a serial port from ebay.

I tried a USB to serial with no success and was advised with this it needs to be direct and not via an adapter.

Hawkeye won't do it.

Ediabas will do it. This is a SW tool that BMW distributed to suppliers in order to develop pieces for their vehicles-including the RR- 10 years ago. And there are illegal copies floating around the www. But you need an interface to make it work. All in all usually around GBP100. And a couple of days of frustration to get set up and running.

Hawkeye will do a recalibration. So will the IIDTool - with more options than any other system including the OEM T4/IDS - and Ediabas for that matter.(and yes, BMW's did have air suspension as an option)

The Faultmate FCR is just a fault code reader and won't (if I'm not mistaken).
