transmission oil cooler change out

changing out this little cooler on my s/c - well the quick connect /disconnect on the lube oil supply return lines is anything but!!!

they are so awkward to remove that I have destroyed the little plastic and stainless fittings that holds the pipe onto the cooler stubs.

does anyone know where I can buy replacement clips to push back onto the pipe ends because I don't fancy having to buy the complete pipe assemblies??

i think you will have to buy the complete pipe , to remove you have to push the clip towards the rubber section while pushing the rubber part towards the metal section and then pull back at the same time if you can make sense of that , when i done mine was easy but you do have to get the procedure right or they wont come apart Thumbs Up 1990 3.5 v8 defender

On the engine oil cooler (similar fittings), there is a little plastic dismount tool - looks like a split plastic collar - that you unclip from one side of the fitting, turn over and refit so it slides into the 'teeth' of the clip, enabling it to be pulled free. Not sure if it could be useful here, but i thought it worth mentioning ....

Cheers guys - they weren't as damaged as first thought and I managed to straighten them out and refit , but added the extra security of safety wires as an extra back up. All tested and leak free. Very Happy
