hi, if you have the new style key pratice the sync before you start, you can do this indoors...hold bottom button down until the led starts flashing fast then press the top button 3 times, try to do this evenly then you are looking for the 3 long flashes when you take your fingers off. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

I cant get it to sync no matter what I try. Most of the time with the light flashing quickly I get to 2 presses of the button before it stops flashing quickly and then does nothing, no long flashes, no flashes at all. If i then press any button the light flashes but nothing is happening Sad

It can be a be a faff. I had a load of trouble the first few times. I noticed that the turning to position 1 and off was quite critical. I can't for the life of me remember if it was long or short. I have an iPod (Audio connectivity module) kit with an iphone connected, I found that when the BECU was in proper initialisation mode the phone buzzed (as in charging) twice. After this they synced on my second go.

If you want we can meet and have a play to make sure all is ok?\

Thumbs Up

I'm assuming you are syncing your original key(s) as well when ever you try the new key ?? All keys need to be synced in the same procedure otherwise they won't all work afterwards. Do(es) the original key(s) still work ? MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Hi Steve I take it you got yours cut in the end ?

OK maybe im doing something wrong or maybe the unit is faulty so ill write exactly what im doing here.

I only have 1 key so the new flip style key will need the transponder implanting into it and then Ill still only have 1 key but it will be newer looking Smile

(new flip style key) If i press and hold the the open button the little light flashes 2 times then begins flashing quickly. I then press the open button once, fast flashing stops, press it again and then before the third press the light flashes once and then when I release the open button nothing happens at all.

It doesnt matter if im in the motor, outside the motor or even nowhere near the motor this is what happens......Am I doing something wrong ?

The original key still works no problem, thankfully or id be right in the Censored

Not yet I synced them first as I was sorking in Ireland this week.

Ok in drivers seat with all doors closed: I put the old key in the ignition turned it 45 degrees to position 1, the orange light on the screen will start flashing. I turned off and took the old key out. Then held the open button for a couple of seconds (original style flip keys don't have LED) kept holding the unlock button, press the lock button click (1 beat) click (1beat) click (1beat) released the unlock button. The doors lock and unlock the key is synced. If you've tried the clicks a few times the car won't be in initialisation mode any more so you should lock and unlock then try the ignition key to position 1 again.

It took a few goes and got frustrating. But once the first one synced the second one seemed to go easily (you have 30 seconds for subsequent keys)

I guess the difficulty is knowing for sure the BECU is actually IN initialisation mode!

Hope this helps

I had mine cut at keys galore in Glasgow if anyone else is looking Thumbs Up Also found a place online but didn't need them in the end.

It took me a few times to sync the key and found that turning the key back to start position and removing it quickly within a couple of seconds did the trick.

Can't find anyone to cut my key!!!

Managed to get the key synced thanks to Daveos intervention and I thought that'd be the hard part.
However finding someone to cut my key near Newbury is proving difficult.
Thought I'd try in Liverpool as I'm up there this weekend but again not having much luck Big Cry

Anyone know anywhere near the M4 between Reading / Bath and up to Oxford or in the north west???? Currently - 55 FFRR S/C and loving it

No worries mate I think I put in bmw key cutting and it came up. A few places including Timpsons were bumping their gums saying we don't cut keys from the net but the guy I used in Glasgow like others have said the keys cut fine with no problems Thumbs Up

i have spoke to timpsons late friday and they have made it clear that they are loosing money on not suppling key blanks, they can chaqrge up to 30 plus for a blank key when you can get the same blank from ebay for a fiver, when i mentioned maybe they should drop there prices they replied "why shold we it would be easier to refuse to cut them and " so there you go,its down to money..

any way back to key sync, i check all the keys enter the sync mode before they go out, well the new style as i cant tell on the original type and yes some take me a few times to get it, as i said you can practice it indoors befor you try in your car.
when you hold the bottom button let it flash fast for a second and keep your finger on it then press the top button 3 times, try the 3 pushes slowley 1mississippi 2 mississippi and 3..then release both buttons, you are looking for the 3 long flashes. if you get any led flash while you are doing it,it has failed.. give it a min and try again... V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.
