Short term insurance.

Is it possible to get insurance for a couple of months for a car I don't own (I expect not, but worth asking)

My friend has just been banned for a couple of months. His car is just parked up, and he says I can use it if I get it insured - but not sure if it's possible when I don't own the car Confused

Everything is possible...... for a price

If you have a car that's currently insured, I'd start with your current insurer.

Get him to add you as a named driver on his own insurance and pay him the extra premium cost?

will be his NCB at risk, but depends how much he trusts you..,. '08 Audi S6 Avant 5.2 V10 with Milltek non-resonated. Vrrrrrrmmmmmph

Google short term car insurance... I saw an advert on telly the other day for your scenario. With their insurance the car owners NCB remains intact if you have an incident. Previously..

I did try that, but non of them would offer cover for that particular make / model. As suggested I think I need to ask him to put me on his insurance - and me pay the difference Thumbs Up

It must be quite a high risk car then for them to avoid it..

As above either get added to his policy or see if your policy allows you to driven other insured cars 3rd party.

To be honest it sounds like he has cancelled his insurance anyway. You could try and add it to your current policy as a temp car and give the reason that you want to try a friends car along side your own for a while. Won't be cheap mind! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

It's a V10 RS6 Avant.

He hasn't canceled his policy, just that he was only driver, but I'll ask him how much to add me on Thumbs Up

I wouldn't dare drive it on 3rd party only Whistle

I'd be happy to pay a fair whack for a couple of months of fun in that! Been looking at these recently but they're still looking a bit pricey, especially as the S6 can be had for about 50% less...not as good, but still the same beast of an engine without the blowers... '08 Audi S6 Avant 5.2 V10 with Milltek non-resonated. try tempcover.com with the caveat that for two months it could often be cheaper to just insure for a year of fun Twisted Evil
