Is it possible to get insurance for a couple of months for a car I don't own (I expect not, but worth asking)

My friend has just been banned for a couple of months. His car is just parked up, and he says I can use it if I get it insured - but not sure if it's possible when I don't own the car

If you have a car that's currently insured, I'd start with your current insurer.

Get him to add you as a named driver on his own insurance and pay him the extra premium cost?

Google short term car insurance... I saw an advert on telly the other day for your scenario. With their insurance the car owners NCB remains intact if you have an incident. Previously..

I did try that, but non of them would offer cover for that particular make / model. As suggested I think I need to ask him to put me on his insurance - and me pay the difference

It must be quite a high risk car then for them to avoid it..

As above either get added to his policy or see if your policy allows you to driven other insured cars 3rd party.

That was the way we did in the end.. Was only £30 on top of his premium + I'm covered until January. Bargain I would say
