Scotland 2014 Range Rover Vogue SDV6 Santorini Black
MOT Fail - Park Brake Strip required

As the title suggests, main dealer just rang to say this park brake has caused the SC to fail MOT.

Surprising as it was pre MOT the other week and no issues found. Can anyone please explain what a park brake strip is?

I should think they mean stripping down the whole parking brake at the disc/drum area and freeing it off. As I posted recently, very few people who drive autos use the hand break, preferring to put the vehicle in park when stopping at lights ext, hence they seize up.

My MOT guy advises using the parking brake every time you use the vehicle, saves all the hassle of components seizing

Thanks. However, every time the car is used and brought to a stop, the foot brake is applied, neutral selected and the park brake applied. Only after it has secured itself and the car is "parked up", P is then selected before the ignition is turned off Confused

Garage saying that whilst the car has LR MOT insurance up to £750 this MOT fail is classed as a "maintenance" issue.
