SC oil leak

I had the SC looked at today by a LR Indy. It has a very slight oil leak which judging by the amount of dirt attached to it, has been there some time. It's not a massively urgent job but it's one to be aware of.

He is almost sure that the leak is coming from the sump gasket (he's done a few before) - 16 hours labour to fix! Shocked

Does anyone know the official LR time? 2006 4.2 SC

Yep. Understood.

How can a sump gasket take that long?! That is seriously BAD design.........

Off for a pint of scotch to simmer over it! 2006 4.2 SC

He said he's done a few now so it's not an unlucky one off.

The problem is, you would never know, the under tray catches it all so there are no drips..... 2006 4.2 SC

Despite the branding, Jaguar didn't really make engines later on, they've used whatever Ford made them have when they were part of PAG.

So really it's some old Ford lump in there dripping away.

A ford lump + a ZF 'box remind me of my old Zephyr (which also dripped oil). Times haven't really moved on that much have they? Laughing 2006 4.2 SC
