Respray costs

Hi chaps,

Was just pondering, how much a colour change would cost?

I have been looking at a few newer cars online over the last few weeks and really quite fancy a different colour but have grown attached to the old girl on the drive.

So am thinking possibly of getting a full colour change, and facelift instead.

It's very "possibly" at the moment as I'm assuming that a full colour change would be at least £3k and a face lift at least £4 (It may be cheaper to change the car) and I would have save a bit but I think the possibility is worth exploring....

Any one have any thoughts on my ideas on prices? Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

If you repainted it santorini black with a facelift then A, you would see a difference B, you would not need to paint internals...

Cheepest option I think...

Cheers Craig, that is a decent option, as i have a few panels which need doing anyway.

Was however thinking of a more dramatic transformation.... maybe Nara bronze.

I know that that would be a total stripdown of the exterior and glass and that all th shuts would need doing. But would be sooo cool When done. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Pretty tricky to put a price on a 2008my with 2010 facelift in Nara Bronze with 60k on it (unless you are a mega in the know car dealing genius Wink )

Yes Gaz that's exactly the look I was going for.... Except with the 20" style 11 wheels.! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

it cost me recently £520 for colour change on bonnet and bumper alone.

It aint gonna be cheap for a decent job to be done IMO , wiser to change car maybe?

I own a body shop mate it would be cheaper to change the car, time you spend all that cash it wont be worth it.
A good job is not cheap, you only get what you pay for paint and materials alone to do it right will be best part of a grand then labor costs and conversion parts its just not worth it.

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Java Black

I just asked Total Dynamic , one of the best car wrap firms , for a ballpark price for a full fat:

£1500 incl vat, if you want all the door shuts as well it's a further £480. Price would vary on certain colours, finishes.

Not saying you would consider it, but gives an idea relative to paint job ? Whistle Alcohol and eBay is never a good mix

Changed the colour of my S/C from Zermatt Silver to Fuji White, BUT mine was a Cat D so made it a viable proposition price wise, as I needed a good bit of paint work any way. I completely stripped the car, except for the interior beyond the inner door seal- there's nothing to colour change inside The actual car. The body shop I used is not exactly a mate, but we know each other well - it helps if you have a level of trust for a job this size. They did all the prep and masking, etc then painted it - it helps that I wanted it Fuji White as it's a block colour so no clear coat needed. Got to say it came back perfect, I couldn't have hoped for a better result. I then rebuilt all the exterior trim, new Titan stuff , also updated the front/rear lights

The bodyshop charged £2300 inc Vat and a warranty. It would have been about another £900 on top for metallic and clear coat paint. The only bit they didnt colour change was underside of bonnet, but it doesn't look bad, just a neat line. Obviously, didn't paint the engine bay, but these areas don't jump out, as the original silver colour looks right somehow. They did say they did not want to do another for a while! And I left it with them for three weeks- you can't rush em, painters.

Worth mentioning: mine had the dreaded rust poking through the bottom edge of the top tail gate, and fairly advanced corrosion around the edges of the rear arches- all common issues. The body shop dealt with all this, properly, including Waxoyl afterwards- another plus point for re spraying, as I would have had to deal with this regardless of whether I changed the colour.

Would I do it again? Maybe.... But it's a lot of work stripping and rebuilding the trim.

Sorry, have not figured out how to manipulate pics to correct rotation Laughing
