I use mine and connect to outlet in boot as that's always live. left it for 2 weeks when I was on hols came back started no issues. Present :2008 TDV8 HSE

Use it in the rear quarter window Nd plug it into the rear fuse box |

I struggle to see how the very low current (and voltage) from these solar chargers could damage the ECU - especially as when the charger is being used, the ignition would normally be off (and the SRS ECU should have powered down too - not much need for SRS in a parked car). Sounds like one of these issues where the dealer look for a reason to ensure that they can make the punter feel it's his fault and therefore expensive and not covered by a warranty... |

I fitted one on my dash and connected to the fag lighter socket in front of clock.

I think the power spikes/fluctuations during starting could potentially damage the solar panel.
