there are now complete keys for sale online for £30, with chip, the lot, such as item eBay Item No. 181162370767 (COMES WITH UNCUT, NEW BLADE, NEW CHIP, ELECTRONICS 433 MHZ AND BATTERY)

Could one please confirm 433 MHZ is for Europe in general ?

Also, please confirm there is everything one needs to replace one key, bar the coding and cutting itself?

From what I understand, the trick is the transponder and EWS (in the car) need to talk to each other. That is the tricky bit. Daveo can tell you more about that. Have a look at his flip key threads, there is some info in there already.

Normally the dealer issues the keys (probably through a central supplier) where the transponder is linked to your VIN. So a blank transponder needs to be "programmed" with the car VIN, at least that is what I think it is.

This prevents thieves from using blank transponders to steal cars Not sure the finer details of the programming though. Maybe the VIN is run through a encoder and that generates a special code that the EWS needs (otherwise it would be easy for a thief, get the VIN, get a transponder programmer and type the VIN in and that's it, so I would expect there to be some intermediate encoding/encryption going on). MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

hi, if its to replace a worn or damaged key then yes it will work,swap over the transponder get the blade cut and then sync and you have a nice new key...but if you want it as a second key then you will need to program the chip to your EWS and that can be hard to find someone to do it,landrover will not so dont even ask them. i can do it but it means having your EWS unit and your existing key. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.
