britpart nightmare

what a night Evil or Very Mad mare
after reading some good post on the IIDTool from gap diagnostics, i thought i would treat myself to one as the all coms unit has started to lag a bit, anyway as i said i thought i would treat myself, so i gave britparts a call, they could do with a lesson in customer relations, they asked me do i have an account with them and when i said no, it was like i was a lepper, "you need to go through one of our dealers" i said just wanted to ask a few questions, "yeah as i said you need to go through one of our dealers, do you want their number," not very helpful at all anyway i call up the first dealer, "No sorry dont sell it" so i called the second number "sorry dont stock it but i can get it, why do you want that one any way its not that good you would be better of with a blackbox fault mate...

so if there is any one on here from britparts i think you should take note.. Exclamation

So i called brit parts again today and ask to speak to someone in technical, i was welcomed with the phrase "do you have an account with us" i said "no and explained what happened and the reply to my calls from the numbers they gave me the day before, hence could i talk to someone technical" no sorry we would not talk to you, you will have to contact an approved out let.

so again if you work for brit part and read this then you need to get some customer skills and if you are the supplier of the IIDTool from gap diagnostics then i am sorry as i did try to buy one of your diagnostic tools but it wasnt to be..

i dont usually rant and rave about things but i needed to vent today.. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Shocked

I think in the interests of accuracy this should be flagged as a "Britpart nightmare", not GAP Diagnostics / IIDTool - their guys in my experience have been quite exceptionally welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful all round...

Just my view. Graham

Ouch. That's some nasty experience Daveo.

I've experienced similar issues with other companies and it has always ruined my day. Researching my first Range Rover purchase

Yeah, that's why they're known as S*itpart. Impossible to deal with, very questionable quality with a lot of their parts, and customer service worse than the average Indian call centre.

On the upside, I bought and IID tool through a group buy on another forum. I won't go into too many details except to say I think it's a good bit of kit, especially for the price. And GAP Diagnostics customer service is better than legendary.

The bit about the Faultmate is true. It does a lot more. The downside is it costs a lot more. Fine of you do this stuff for a living or you love to tinker at a really deep level. If, on the other hand, you want something to keep in the glovebox which can reset EAS, Service indicator, edit the CCF file and provide access beyond even main dealer stuff, well the IID tool does it for less than the cost of a schedule-1 service.[/i]

I have to agree with the others, this appears to reflect badly on Gap, but I've had nothing but fantastic service from Patrick there, who always responds super quick with a helpful response.

maybe when Steve reads your tale of woe, he can address the appalling attitude of Britpart! Censored Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

^^^ Exactly. I've been dealing with Patrick for about a week and he has been helpful above and beyond anything I've ever experienced. The product is good, GAP are good. Quite why they chose S*itpart as their route to market is unknown to us, but they have no other UK presence.

Anyway, perhaps Stan could modify the title to reflect the fact it's Britpart who are morons, not GAP. ??

there have been posts on the forum indicating that britparts are only distributors and that the IIDTool can only be brought from a dealer/ebay...
if you had questions dave, you might have asked here on the Q&A thread i had started or you could have emailed GAP directly...

title has been amended as it puts GAP in a negative way.. ... - .- -.

hi all, yes i would agree my tantrum should be directed to brit part, thats a number i will never call again.
sorry for any confusion to IIDTool, i have spoken to craig and he told me to ask you stan for the name of the company in liverpool, i have been told britpart has the sole rights to the IIDTool in the uk and they must all come from them, i was told to give steve a pm telling him about my ordeal, i still want one but not if it puts a single penny in brit parts pocket.

I've heard numerous stories about the quality of the products they sell and that has been enough for me not to buy from them

I chose to use the rather faceless, but reliable Craddocks to order mine after the recommended Britpart dealer I was directed to had no idea what I was trying to buy..... Land Rover Addict

I'll give you a recent Britpart example from my own experience.

I needed a replacement coolant hose for my 300Tdi 110. It's one that goes from top to bottom with a smaller-diameter T-piece about midway Vulcanised into the hose. All one part from LR and about £90.

Unknowingly ordered the Britpart one for £20. When it arrives, it's in no less than FIVE pieces all sleeved and jubilee-clipped together. An utter abomination! Not fit for purpose in my opinion.

OK as various spares for the sleeves, clips and individual pieces, but not as one part. Far too many potential leak paths.

So I used a good Genuine secondhand part instead. Si. <This is my name.

I eat rat poison.

Had a similar experience from Britpart here in Aus. Thought at the time that they were the only ones to get the IID tool through, so sent a request to them. Took them a while - and a nudge from GAP to have them contact me. I asked for a price and availability. They got back to me with a price of $750+ GST - so $825 all up! (AUD). When I asked about availability they said 4 to 6 weeks from order. If I wanted it quicker, then I would have to pay $40 more for delivery. I ended up getting one from the UK from fleabay for around half that...

They need to take a good hard look at themselves...
