Thinking about changing the FFRR SC either to a TDV8 or maybe doing some mods to it but after owning a couple of FFRR's there is a hankering in me to change to another marque ............

So i was wondering if there ever came a time gents and you came to the same crossroads what would be your choice of Marque .....

Have been looking at the usual suspects RRS's, BMW X5's, Mercedes GL's. .......... Volvo XC90's have already had two of them ..........

So where do you go  ====================================

Bentley GT Continental is the ONLY "next thing" IMO.  If you have nothing nice to say,say nothing at all.

Until Top Gear declare a new all round best car "........IN THE WORLD!". There is no point, you will only be disappointed. Anything else is always going to be second best.

As for going off the marque.. I have a Dr that can help with that

you could always go up to a rrs tdv8

If and only if the problems (turbo, suspension, injectors, electric fan, heated seat, etc., etc.) make me get rid of it, the only other option vould be a Volvo XC90. That car just doesn't break (my wife has one since 2003 - 0 faults)!

I know what you mean. The FFRR is the first car I've ever had that I still love after 18 months.
Usually I get bored after 6 months and start looking for something else...

I looked very closely at a Merc SL....about and 06......I only looked at the 350....but seeing as you must have somekind of fuel sponsor for the FFRR SC you could get the 500.

The only drawback is lack of boot space. Has everything else.

On the other hand, I've only got good to say about my Boxster.... more pure sports, but loads of space for the odd booze cruise.

If you want to stay big n tall - the Merc GL is the only alternative I think - although I don't know much about them except Lewis Hamiltons says you can fit 23's on it

That's the main problem when you buy a FFRR.
It's the end of the road.

Now your only option is going sideways. While maintaining the RR, you can think of a defender.
In it's own way, it's crap, but that makes it so gooood....it's so different that it kinda shares a bit of RR individuality. Maybe even take some crazy car, like a old Trabant....

Just joking, but the point is, you can't feel good with a XC, Q, Cay, ML, GL, G and the whole alphabet after going the RR way. The only way to feel good is buy into a whole different experience.

How about an X5 M. It's been said many times that NOTHING can really compare to the range rover, because nothing is like it.

The X5 M is quite nice looking though and is incredibly quick with a 0-60 of 4.5 secs (!!)



I've owned three L322's now though and am definately not bored of it. If I had the kind of cash that could buy an X5M then it would be going straight on a 2010 500bhp supercharged. Not as quick as the X5 but who cares with that interior...............

Plus another downside to the X5M would be the fact that none of your neighbours would know you'd paid £80k for it. Only petrol heads can tell it from the diesel, whereas everyone knows Range rovers are expensive/exclusive,

Am I the only one that finds this rather sad? I couldn't give a to$$ what my neighbours think my car costs.

As for the FFRR, there is NOTHING you could buy that wouldn't have you looking at every FFRR coming the other way and wishing you hadn't switched. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

Yes my mate had one and it went wrong more often than a FFRR!!!!

After playing golf with me once he could not even get in it with his keyless start system. You really look silly standing next to your GT and not being able to enter let alone start it! Two much on electrowizkid side I believe. Great drive & great looking car though but forget towing people out of the snow and hauling the family down to Courchevel 1850.....

Hi I have a continental GT,so far apart from the highlevel brake light (a known problem) failing, I have had no problems,Great car to drive I am getting around 17mpg average,But to be honest if i had to sell either the rangerover or the Bentley it would be the Bentley!
