Venture cam cradle voltage

Hello all, first post.

I have searched venture cam and read all the posts but there is still info i need.

Its not charging. I have tried 3 cams now.
I checked the voltage in the cradle today, with the engine running, and its about 13.5v... BUT...
it pulses on and off.. voltage on for about 1 second, then goes off for a second, then on again, etc.

Could someone, with a working cam!, please check their cradle and see if the voltage is a steady DC or it pulses.

Its a 55 plate 2006 model TD6.

Thank you. Previously..

Mine doesn't seem to work at all. According to the manual the rubber power button should have a glow around it when it's charging, but mine stays dark! Rolling Eyes Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

are you sure the cam is sitting correct in the holder and the pins are making contact, if you have metered it out you will know what contact is 12v+ and negative you could do as i did to test my cam and that was used a 12v 500ma adapter and put the wires on the correct terminals it will charge it, i would say even if you was getting a 12v for a few seconds then of and on it would put some charge in to it so my guess it not making contact.. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Thanks daveo..
Yip, tried that... But When I connected it to the charger nothing happened. I take it the green light should have come on to show the venture cam was charging? The car came with a venture cam not working, I have since bought 2 on eBay, and they don't work.... Probably why they ended up on eBay!! Previously..

Hi just tried it on my cam, the green oval only comes on when you pushed the button once it will flash as it looks for a connection, push the button again and the torch will come on...when charging the green oval does not come on... you can have bad luck on 3 units, connect the 12v supply and wait a while as it may be dead flat..just make sure you have the + and - on the right way...
i do believe there are two version of the venture cam.. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Not a big help but when I did my Landrover offload day in the new FFRR the guide had trouble with the venture can as it had been put in the holder/charger the wrong way. So it is possible to do so could cause an issue. Not much help but might help.

I've had the venture cam on a 12v charger for 24hours. It's completely dead.
Next time I buy one I'll insist that it has some charge in it!

I would still be grateful if someone could check their cam holder and let me know if the voltage pulses or is constant.

Thanks. Previously..

I have tryed charging the venture cams with an external charger and they dont work . Even made a base with pins to sit it on

There is some sort of reed switch inside the venture cam ,which only activates when in a docking station .

Pop into your local dealer and get them to test the camera on one of the cars in the showroom ...only takes a few mins from dead to start working .

done this for you, the voltage goes from 13.6 to 12.2 to 7/8 volts..these voltages change slightly but still read 13-12-7 point something [does that make sense?]...

try a charger with alternating current like a radio charger rather than direct as in a battery charger.. ... - .- -.

I wonder if the cam has been left in the charger and never used it and the rechargable battery is passed it's sell-by date or has had too many cycles without being discharged

b) the rechargable battery is just goosed due to old age and has leaked

Is there any way to open up the casing and see what the battery inside is like - I bet it's like the cheap and nasty ones the Chinese use in those solar garden lights 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

Just had my first play with a venture cam.
Thank you so much for getting it working.
I'm also chuffed to see the cradle etc all working as it should. When I plug the cam in, it comes up on the screen that it is docked and the battery icon starts to flash to say charging. When I turn on the headlights, the green ring on the cam comes on, so I know all is now well and that's a good feeling!
Cheers dave. Previously..
