Place your bets please...........

Just a bit of fun but my FFRR is in for 60k service and MOT today.

What additional items can i expect the stealer "recommend i have done " by phone today.

Please note that most normal items have been changed during normal service "reccommendations" over the years anyway so there should be nothing that old on the car.

My starter for 10 is :

At least 2 discs

Brake fluid flush.

Every time I've taken a car for a service regardless of mileage, they've insisted on a brake fluid flush. 2006 Mercedes CLS

But really finding it hard to fight the urge for a S/C...

Only one so far - new brake hose on the front - however the car needs to stay in overnight as they dont have the part - so hence probably brake fluid flush aswell. CURRENT : FFRR 2012 4.4 TDV8

Radiator and hoses.

... and if they don't ask you, I'd ask them why not.

I'm fairly sure the radiator is a service item at 60k or 72k and having suffered an overheating gearbox which was sorted by changing the radiator and oil cooler, I'd recommend you do it.

For info, the radiator is a bit of a daft design and when I changed mine, the bottom fins were obviously blocked internally which prevented sufficient cooland circulating for the oil heat exchanger below.

Vogue beat me to it...

"I'm afraid to say your car has rabies sir, so with huge reluctance we've been forced to put it down. However do not despair as we now offer our 'post-rabies 10% discount'"

Fuming!!!

Ok - update for you :

After waiting 2 extra days to get the car back due to a problem with a wheel nut i get the following :

Chased the dealer all day to get them to confirm the car will be delivered back today. Finally get an answer at 5pm.

Service manager phones me and tells me total bill is £1600+ - when i get back on my chair and question how so high he says it includes the service :

Hold fire i say - i have service plan (which i advise everytime i book the car in) - oh ok - so that means it is now £997

I ask WTF - how do you get to £997 for non service items and this is the breakdown :

Coolant Change - didnt authorise
Brakepads front and rear
1 flexible brake pipe hose on the front
1 stud repair (cross threaded nut) on the front hub (apparently needs full dissasembly)
Subwoofer enclosure repair (plastic case had split round the fixing bolts) causing vibration
New wiper blades (didnt authorise)
Wheel balance of 2 front wheels (wheel wobble still there!)

An hour later the service manager phones back saying he made a mistake and charged me for 1 line twice - so the bill is now £890

And to top it off - a metallic vibration under the car which is the main non service item i asked them to look at hasnt even been done.

I am so cross and will be taking this further - i have to say i am disgusted with Landrover (well this dealer who will remain nameless for now) CURRENT : FFRR 2012 4.4 TDV8

Hells Bells!

Having noticed you are not that far from me (I'm Chelmsford) I use Lookers in Chelmsford and they seem quite decent. On the last service they advised brake pads were 70% worn, but would be OK for now. Just the wipers needed doing, so I paid for the parts (12 pounds) and they fitted them free.

It's only thier good service that has stopped me using a fairly local big independent. Thumbs Up

Good luck in getting your bill down. Why change the coolant I don't know.
Didn't do mine at 60k miles. (last week)
